COMPANY PROFILE

Treloar Australia was established in 1962 by Mike Treloar and quickly became one of Australia’s top menswear fashion labels, marketing his many designs to all major department stores and retail outlets Australia wide. The label was very popular and soon the Treloar label was selling in England, America, New Zealand and Japan. In 1970 the Treloar suit collection in America was purchased and then featured in the front windows of the May Co and Broadway Department Stores in Los Angeles. That year Treloar won a U.S award for contemporary design for menswear fashion, which was presented to him in Los Angeles. In 1974 Treloar won the David Jones Grand Award for fashion excellence for his menswear collection, which was quite a feat as he was competing against Australia’s top women’s fashion designers.

During the late 60s and into the 70s Treloar was busy opening up menswear boutiques in Melbourne. Already a trusted name for quality of fabric and excellent fit, Treloar Australia was approached by a number of high profile companies to design uniforms for men and women. In his Chapel Street boutique, on one occasion television personality Peter Landy (a well known television personality and commentator) walked into his boutique and asked Mike if he could design and make an outfit to wear on his sports program. This had quite amazing repercussions as it was the forerunner for his entry into the Corporate uniform supply. Channel 7 Director of Sport Gary Fenton asked Mike to design and provide a corporate uniform to be worn by the camera crew and sports commentators Australia wide. This also blossomed into Treloar designing and outfitting the camera crew and selected commentators for the 1980 “on again off again” Moscow Olympics, and the Olympics that followed through to 1996. On another occasion Mike Treloar was asked by Channel 9’s David Hill and Kerry Packer to design new colourful outfits for the new exciting, controversial Australian cricket series. Today Treloar Australia uses the latest in multimedia and design technology to service the needs of Corporate Australia. Treloar Australia’s outstanding success is underpinned by the realization that corporate image and branding is paramount. The team at Treloar Australia pride themselves on their ability to translate high profile branded corporate images into the latest fashion wardrobes.
